Michelle Sterns of Green Time Consulting  spoke to the club in October about making household cleaners that have great cleaning power and no harsh chemicals.  her mission is to GO GREEN. ONE HOUSEHOLD AT A TIME .

Her recipes and other information can be found at her website

The Garden Club has incorporated a new theme of Going Green. We reuse, recycle and repurpose whenever possible. With the purchase of our new club t- shirts, participating in the Greening of the Green twice a year at the Meet the Artists and Artisans Art Fair, we invite the public to see our new vision for being environmentally responsible.

During our monthly meetings and whenever appropriate, our conservation chair speaks to us about the latest bills before the legislature, new tips and techniques for going green and other current environmental concerns.  With the launch of our website, will be able to communicate the concerns and the commitment of the Milford Garden Club to the city of Milford and beyond.

In May of 2009 the Milford Garden Club joined Denise Morris Curt at the Meet the Artists and Artisans Fair on the Green in Milford , along with many of the local environmental groups in Milford.  We met with the local people, handed our literature about our club, invasive pests in CT as well as promoted our upcoming MAY MARKET.  The following photos show the tent set up we had and the lovely tuteurs built by spouses of two of our members.

The Milford Garden Club will be joining Denise and her artists at the Fair each May and September on the lovely Green in Milford.

Mayor Jim Richetelli accepted a proclamation declaring him to be the "Greenest Mayor in Connecticut" because of his environmentally sound decisions and innovative ideas concerning energy for Milford.
The Mayor  was genuinely surprised when he arrived at our May Market to be presented with the proclamation.  Our club determined he was truly deserving of this award.

Congratulations Mayor Jim!!
